A Closer Look at Various Precision CNC Machining Processes

(Part Two)

We are continuing our series which takes a closer look at the various precision CNC machining services offered in a modern day machine shop. Our previous article discussed CNC milling turning and close tolerance machining.  Let’s take a closer look at a few more precision CNC machining processes:

Small Parts Machining

Small parts machining involves the manufacturing of very small and sometimes even micro components.  Small parts machining demands extreme precision, accuracy and close tolerances that are often not achievable with traditional machinery.

Laser Cutting & Laser Engraving

Precision CNC laser cutting and laser engraving is performed using machines with  focused laser beams and pointed routers.  The laser is designed to heat and melt or vaporize the material to create the engraving or cut.  Laser engraving in particular is important in small part machining where parts need to be serialized or marked.  Only an extremely precise machine can accurately perform laser engraving on very small parts.
