Passing the CNC Machinist Craft Down to the Next Generation

JW Machine is active in helping pass the CNC machinist craft down to the next generation. We are a supporting member of the Space Coast Machinist Apprentice Program, which allows apprentices to graduate as Florida Department of Education state-certified machinists. CNC milling turning, close tolerance machining, prototypes to production manufacturing, and precision CNC machining and programming are among the skills our apprentices learn and perfect.

We are especially excited to announce that Phillip Chen – son of JW Machine owners Mark and Phyllis Chen – recently completed the Space Coast Machinist Apprentice Program and earned his State of Florida Certificate for Certified Journeyman Machinist. We now have two Journeymen working for JW Machine, Phillip Chen and Jerry Buchan.

If you have a son or daughter who is interested in pursuing a career as a CNC machinist, please let us know. We will be happy to provide you with more information on the Space Coast Machinist Apprentice Program. These types of apprenticeships are important in our industry, as precision CNC machining, close tolerance machining, prototypes to production manufacturing and CNC milling turning all require certain skill sets and very specific program training.

Congratulations to all of the students who recently received their Certified Journeyman Machinists certificates. JW Machine is proud to be part of ensuring this very specialized craft is passed down and preserved for generations to come!
