Quality Standards Applied to Defense Industry Manufacturing

At JW Machine, quality is of the utmost importance. We are an ISO 9001/AS 9100 certified machine shop with extensive experience working with defense and aerospace industry clients. We ensure components meet required quality standards for defense applications by following standard operating procedures (SOP). This includes documenting every step in the precision CNC machining process from setup through post-processing as well as recording ID numbers which link back to specific jobs and batch numbers when multiple components are produced together from one machine setup operation.

It is also important to regularly calibrate all precision CNC machines according ISO9000 standards along with utilizing advanced software solutions such as Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) programs which help minimize errors throughout production runs while optimizing speed and efficiency levels. By following SOP’s consistently over time, JW Machine achieves high-quality results when delivering prototypes to production manufacturing and contract manufacturing jobs.

Visual inspections are also an important part of quality control for CNC machining for defense applications. These inspections are performed during setup, after each operation is completed, and at the end of the job to ensure that all parts meet standards. During visual inspections it’s important to check for dimensional accuracy and alignment between different parts. Visual inspections can be carried out by hand or with automated inspection machines depending on the complexity of the job and size of production run.
